Responsive Call to Worship: Colossians 1: 15 – 20; Hebrews 12:2; Revelation 5: 12 – 13
Leader: Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
All: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Leader: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!
All: To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!
Prayer of Adoration
Hymn of Praise: Songs of Faith #25 Lift High the Name of Jesus
We Confess Our Faith
Responsive Reading: The Apostles’ Creed
We Confess Our Sin
Call to Confession: Adapted from Romans 5: 8, Hebrews 4: 16
Leader: The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
Silent Confession of Sin
Corporate Prayer of Confession
All: Almighty God, You have raised your Son Jesus from death to life, and crowned Him Lord of all. We confess that we have failed to bow before Him, or acknowledge His rule in our lives. Instead, we have followed the ways of the world, and failed to give Him the glory He deserves. Hear our confession, forgive us, and cleanse our hearts to worship You. Establish us as Your faithful people who move and act in obedience and love and in imitation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: Ezekiel 36: 25 – 28
Leader: The Word of the Lord says: “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. You will be my people, and I will be your God.”

We Give Thanks To The Lord

Offertory: What A Friend/ Joseph M. Scrivener
Written as a poem in 1855 to comfort his ailing mother in Ireland while he was in Canada. Born in 1820, educated at Trinity College in Dublin and was engaged to be married when the evening before the wedding, his fiancé drowned. Shortly after moving to Canada to become a teacher, he became engaged again and she died shortly before their marriage.
Joseph used his tragedies to empathize with the elderly and poor. He used his time to saw wood for the stoves of those who were handicapped or elderly.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
