Responsive Call to Worship: Psalm 67: 1 – 4
Leader: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
All: May the peoples praise you, God. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth. May all the peoples praise you!
Prayer of Adoration
Hymn of Praise: Hymnal #580 Lead On, O King Eternal
We Confess Our Sin
Call to Confession: based on Luke 24:44-48; Heb. 4:16
Leader: You have heard what was written about Jesus in Scripture: how he would suffer and die and then rise from the dead on the third day; how, through his death and resurrection, the forgiveness of sin is now possible for all who repent. So let us boldly approach the throne of God, where we will find grace and mercy.
Silent Confession of Sin
Corporate Prayer of Confession: Adapted from the Valley of Vision—A Cry for Deliverance
All: Heavenly Father, I do not understand the things I do. I have been saved from sin, yet I still sin. Clothed in Christ’s righteousness, I should live in righteousness, yet I sin. As your child I should bear your image, so I pray that you would conform me more and more to the likeness of your son. Enable me, more and more, to recognize my death unto sin, so that I may live for you. When sin tempts me may I be deaf to its voice. Christ has delivered me from the penalty of sin, now in your grace and the power of your Spirit grant that I would also be more and more free from the dominion of sin. Grant me to walk as Christ walked, to live in the newness of his life, the life of love, the life of faith, the life of holiness. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: From John 3:16; Matt. 11:28; John 6:37; I Timothy 1:15
Leader: Hear the words of our Lord Jesus Christ to everyone who repents and turns to him: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Whoever comes to me I will in no way cast out. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
