Call to Worship: Matthew 11: 28 – 30
Leader: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Prayer of Adoration
Hymn of Praise: Hymnal #679 ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
We Confess Our Sin
Responsive Call to Confession: Based on Isaiah 53: 4 – 6
Leader: Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
All: But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Leader: We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Confident in God’s grace, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
Silent Confession of Sin
Corporate Prayer of Confession:
All: O Lord, we have sinned, and we need Your forgiveness. Our desires and our affections are bent and broken. We hunger for that which will never satisfy, and we love that which leads us away from You. Forgive us, Lord, for we are sorry. Form us according to Your nature and make us more like You, that we may glorify You and enjoy You forever. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 103: 8 – 12
Leader: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
