Responsive Call to Worship: Psalm 67: 1 – 5
Leader: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
All: May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.
Leader: May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth.
All: May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.
Prayer of Adoration
Hymn of Praise: Songs of Faith #33 May the Peoples Praise You
We Confess Our Faith
Responsive Reading: Adapted from New City Catechism Questions 7, 13, 18, 19
Leader: What Does the Law of God Require?
All: That we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Leader: Can anyone keep the law of God perfectly?
All: Since the fall, no mere human has been able to keep the law of God perfectly, but consistently breaks it in thought, word, and deed.
Leader: Will God allow our disobedience and idolatry to go unpunished?
All: No, every sin is against the sovereignty, holiness, and goodness of God, and against his righteous law, and God is righteously angry with our sins and will punish them in his just judgment both in this life, and in the life to come.
Leader: Is there any way to escape punishment and be brought back into God’s favor?
All: Yes, to satisfy his justice, God himself, out of mere mercy, reconciles us to himself and delivers us from sin and from the punishment for sin, by a Redeemer, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
We Confess Our Sin
Call to Confession: Adapted from Romans 8: 14 – 16
Leader: We come before God not as despised sinners, but as beloved children. With the confidence of children of God, let us humbly confess our sin.
Silent Confession of Sin
Corporate Prayer of Confession:
All: O Lord, if we were marked only by our transgressions, no one could stand. But with You there is forgiveness, and so we come to You, eager for mercy. Forgive us when we don’t exercise curiosity and patience to get to know other people and to see You at work within their lives. Forgive us for those times we have been too easily offended, perceiving that we might be personally threatened. Forgive us when, without listening, we assume our way is the best. Pour the healing power of Your love into our hearts, and strengthen us in our walk as Your disciples, that we might meet brokenness with Your love. Through Christ we pray, Amen.
Responsive Assurance of Pardon: Romans 8: 28 – 37
Leader: We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
All: And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
Leader: What then shall we say to these things?
All: If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Leader: Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect?
All: It is God who justifies.
Leader: Who is to condemn?
All: Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
Leader: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
All: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Hymn of Assurance: Victory in Jesus
We Give Thanks To The Lord
Responsive Reading: 1 Chronicles 29: 11 – 13
Leader: Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
All: Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.
Tithes and Offerings
Offertory: Stan’ Still Jordan/ Negro Spiritual
After 40 years of travel through that “great and terrible wilderness,” the children of Israel stood at last on the brink of the Jordan River. They arrived in spring when melting snows from the mountains of Lebanon were pouring into the Jordan River valley, transforming the usually tranquil Jordan into a raging torrent. Joshua commanded the priests who were entrusted with the bearing of the ark, “When ye come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.”

Prayer of God’s People
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
