A Moment for Ministry: Update from Fiaz
Responsive Call to Worship: Psalm 111
Leader: Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
All: Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
Leader: Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.
All: He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful.
Leader: He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
All: He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations.
Leader: The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
All: He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name!
Leader: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.
All: His praise endures forever!

We Confess Our Sin
Responsive Reading: Adapted from James 4: 1 – 10
Leader: What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you?
All: Is it not our passions that are at war within us? We desire and do not have, so we murder. We covet and cannot obtain, so we fight and quarrel. We do not have, because we do not ask. We ask and do not receive, because we ask wrongly, to spend it on our own desires.
Leader: You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
All: God longs jealously over the spirit that He has made to dwell in us.
Leader: But he gives more grace.
All: God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Leader: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
All: Oh sinners, cleanse your hands. All who are double minded purify your hearts. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Let us humble ourselves before the Lord, and He will lift us up.
Silent Confession of Sin
Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon: Inspired by John 6:51-58
Leader: Brothers and sisters, God does not leave us in our distress. He does not abandon us to our devilish decisions. While we choose to starve ourselves on a diet of our own making and choosing that leads to spiritual atrophy and deterioration, God provides us with the Bread of Life. Pursuing us, those who have rejected the wisdom of God, Jesus declares of himself in John 6:51, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever.” The bread that he gives is for the life of the world, for you and me. It is his very body pierced and broken which reunites us to the wisdom, truth, life, and light of God. In Him and through Him, we are forgiven. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
