Responsive Call to Worship: Psalm 2
Leader: Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
All: The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
Leader: He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
All: I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Leader: Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.
All: Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.

We Confess Our Sin
Call to Confession: From Romans 6: 3
Leader: Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Our old selves were crucified with him, so that we might be slaves to sin no more. Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sins.
Silent Confession of Sin
Corporate Prayer of Confession:
All: Gracious God, we know Your Word, and value Your love, but we don’t find it natural to trust Your purposes, especially when tests and trials interrupt our plans. When we doubt Your goodness, forgive us. When we question Your loving presence, forgive us. Remind us of the trials and tests You faced, taking our sin to the cross so that we might be reconciled to You now and forever. Renew us in the grace and strength of the Holy Spirit, through Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: John 8: 34 – 35
Leader: Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Hymn of Assurance: Amazing Grace/ My Chains Are Gone
The Lord’s Supper
A Word About Communion: Foothills Community Church welcomes all baptized Christians who are willing to forsake their sin and who are trusting in Jesus Christ for salvation to receive Communion with us. If you are not able to take Communion, we invite you to use this time to pray before God.

Hymn of Response: Songs of Faith #39 Jesus, Thank You
We Give Thanks To The Lord
Responsive Reading: Romans 7: 25, 8: 1, 2 Corinthians 5: 21
Leader: For our sake, God made Jesus to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Jesus we might become the righteousness of God.
All: Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Leader: There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Tithes and Offerings
Offertory: Blessed Assurance/ Phoebe Knapp (1839-1908) was one of Fanny Crosby’s dearest friends. While Fanny lived in the Manhattan slums, Phoebe lived in the Knapp mansion, dressing extravagantly with gowns and tiaras. One day while at the mansion, she played a tune while the blind hymnist listened. Fanny immediately clapped her hands and exclaimed, “Why, that says, “blessed assurance!”
