Responsive Call to Worship: The Lord Has Risen (from Luke 24: 5; 1 Corinthians 15: 53 – 57; John 11: 25)
Leader: Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here. He has risen!
All: He has risen indeed!
Leader: The Lord has risen!
All: He has risen indeed!
Leader: O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? Death is swallowed up in victory!
All: Christ has risen indeed!
Leader: Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”
All: Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through the Lord Jesus Christ!
Hymn: Songs of Faith #9 Come People of the Risen King
Prayer of Adoration
Leader: The Lord has risen!
All: He has risen indeed! Alleluia!
Hymn: Hymnal #277 (verses 1-4) Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
Responsive Reading: From 1 Corinthians 15: 1 – 8; 1 Timothy 1: 14 – 17
Leader: Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received
All: That Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
Leader: Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
All: The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,
Leader: Of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
All: To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hymn of Praise: Alleluia! Alleluia!
We Confess Our Sin
Responsive Reading: Westminster Catechism Q 14
Leader: What is sin?
All: Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God.
Prayer of Confession
Silent Confession of Sin
Responsive Assurance of Pardon: Heidelberg Question 29; Colossians 2: 13 – 15
Leader: Why is the Son of God called “Jesus,” meaning “savior”?
All: Because he saves us from our sins, and because salvation should not be sought and cannot be found in anyone else.
Leader: When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ.
All: He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
Leader: And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
